the sniff test

Updated: Jul 5, 2025

We all do it — pick up a soap bar, give it a good sniff, and decide 'ha it smells so good!' ”In commercial soaps, that intense scent usually comes from fragrance oils — synthetic blends designed to be bold, long-lasting, and often overwhelming. They may smell sweet or floral, but they can also include hundreds of undisclosed chemicals, some of which can irritate sensitive skin or even disrupt hormones.

My soaps are scented only with pure essential oils, carefully chosen for their natural properties and gentle, grounding aromas. The scent may be more subtle, but it’s honest. It comes from plants, not a lab.

So my natural soaps might not pass some's “sniff test", they are scented in a quiet way. As essential oils don’t shout — they whisper, greeting you in small moments, just as the gentle whoof of scent when you wash your hands, brings little joy in unexpected ways.
